So I know you see it all the time. Every time I see it I cringe, I actually go over to the person and say baby, suga, come here…Lemme pull this down for you or pumpkin just get your size. I want to give her my card and tell her to call me or to check out my blog. These days it seems that the young girls and some grown womean think its ok to walk around with their clothes clinging to their bellies and they wear it proudly as if they are making a fashion statement. Am I confused? Did muffin tops and too small clothes all of a sudden become appropriate? Uh…NO and NO! I mean What the dickens people!
Just because you are big, it doesn’t mean that you have to be sloppy. Unfortunately that’s how it looks, sloppy and unkempt . I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but uh yeah…not cute. So some of us are on a goal to being smaller but while we are on the journey we can be SNATCHED and PULLED TOGETHER while doing it!
Below are 3 top offenders that I’ve seen in my travels and the correct way to do it. I’m not the official “expert” but I’d like to think I know what looks good.
This past summer was the summer of leggings and not just plain leggings but print leggings. I mean I saw sisters with huge behinds just bouncing down the street in ANIMAL PRINT leggings! All I could think was wild kingdom! Don’t get me wrong, its ok to show off your curves but lets be tasteful about it and leave a little to the imagination. A classic pair of black leggings paired with a peplum blouse is tasteful and quite chic. It covers your gluteus maximus and you are sexy and classy at the same time.
Jeans & Muffin Tops
I tried to address this in the most professional way possible, however it is what it is. If you are wearing your jeans under your belly and you can’t button them ON your belly, I am sorry to say, your jeans are too small. When you wear it under your belly, your belly protrudes, creating the muffin top. If your size is bigger, get a bigger size. Whew! Glad I got that off of my chest! Wearing your size creates a smooth silhouette and prevents you from looking sloppy. That way it’ll be ok to wear a clingy shirt without the bulge.
The Waist Belt
Accessories to an outfit are a must. What will snatch you all the way together? A WAIST BELT that’s what! But you must wear it appropriately. As a plus size woman we have a little extra area to cover so if you are going to highlight the waist make sure you’re not wearing a waist belt that gives you the disappearing dental floss effect. I mean I’m just sayin. If the belt disappears under your boobs you need a wider belt. Highlighting your waist balances the proportions of your body and creates a slimming effect making sure your curves pop in the best way.
I hope you enjoyed your tips on turning your Fat into Fashion. Like I said I’m not an “expert” but I’ve been a sizable woman for a long time, you pick up a few tricks over the years. While I’m on the slim down I still want to look good.
