Ok I don’t know about you, but I hate working out! Nope! No sir re bob! I’m not going to front like I do either. If you know me, you know the seriousness on my face right now. I do not look forward to working out, it is a horrible daunting task and the bane of my weight loss existence. You ever hear of those people that say “I just love it, it gives me a rush”. Boo to you! I bet you thought I was going to make some kind of statement like since I lost the weight that it’s easier and that I’m lighter on my feet, yada yada, uh no! Remember the scene on the First Wives Club with Goldie Hawn on the stair climber machine? She was just so excited about working out, argh! The only thing I’m thinking about is how much longer I have to be on the ding dang machine. Nonetheless, even though I loathe it, it is a necessary stinkin evil so, Womp Womp. Even though we’re eating healthier, WE MUST WORK OUT! We have to couple eating healthy a with daily or more regimented weekly exercise routine. Weight loss is essentially burning calories and in order to burn calories you must work out. With that said, below are a few things to help you get moving even though you probably don’t want to. In the end it will all be worth it. Who knows, when I get to my goal I just might enjoy it as much as Goldie Hawn. 🙂
Create a diversion – If you are working out on a machine, cover the machine with a towel so that you won’t see how much time you have left. If you are home watch the shows you have saved up on your DVR, that’ll definitely kill time and keep your mind off of the work out. It works for me.
Gentle Reminders – I tape notes everywhere! The Refrigerator, television, on the side of my bed. Since I know I hate working out like unsightly hair growth, I must have multiple reminders to exercise otherwise pashaw it ain’t happening. Yeah I said ain’t!
Be Creative – You don’t necessarily have to go to a gym to get a good work out. Taking a longer walk will burn calories. You can learn the routine to your favorite Beyoncé video (see below) and burn a huge number of calories and have fun while you’re doing it (Make sure you wear heels, added benefit). Find a group of buddies that could stand to lose a couple of lb.’s and form a group. You know the old saying…There is strength in numbers.
Challenge yourself – Think of your end result. If you’ve been fighting this battle for a long time, push yourself and surprise yourself with what’s already in you. You just have to bust out and make it happen.
