So you’re on your journey and buying food can be suuuuuuper overwhelming. Why because manufacturers are using trickery to get you to buy their product in the name of wellness, ie “Gluten Free” when there really is no gluten in the food anyway! So i’m here to help you read beyond the flashiness and spot a LABEL FAKEOUT. So here we go…Here are 3 Label Fake Out Buzz Words that you need to be concerned about!!!
Don’t be fooled – 85% Lean isn’t really lean it’s only lean if its 93% Lean. So if the package says otherwise, it is a farce!!!! #Lies
So remember when Trans Fat was banned? Trans Fat is a man made oil to assist with the shelf life of products and is extremely high in cholesterol which is why it was banned. Well manufacturers have until 2018 to get rid of it!!! So you need to read the label. Just because it says 0 Trans Fat on the front doesn’t mean Trans Fat “Like” ingredients aren’t added. You gotta read the ingredients! If the ingredient Partially Hydrogenated Oil is added…ding ding ding, that’s Trans Fat! #Lies
So yes Whole Grain is another buzz word that is thrown around on some labels of the products that we consume but ahaaaaaaaaa you have to read the ingredients. Most companies don’t use real whole grain! Oh My Goodness! If you read the label and the 1st ingredient is enriched/fortified whole grain….THAT’S A FAKE OUT!!! Enriched means, the manufacturer stripped down the grain (bleached it) and added back in part of the vitamins of the grain that was taken out before. #Lies. Look for the Whole Grain Symbol on the packaging and be sure to make sure it doesn’t say enriched or fortified. Another way to tell the difference is for example a whole grain loaf of bread has all the nutritious looking granules on it, now that’s official!
