I’m losing weight eating “Junk Food”

delish-road-trip-snacks-1523645975So I rebooted my wellness journey for ROWFit35 on January 1, 2019! You can check out that article here .  This year’s reboot and hopefully my final reboot I decided to do things differently.  The difference this time is that I’m embracing the “Junk Food”.  We are told, in order to lose weight we need to cut out specific things from our diet. By diet I don’t mean something that I’m on, I’m talking about the food that we put into our bodies.  No I am not on a diet!   But I digress…let’s get back to the topic at hand.  We are told on a regular basis; eat this, don’t eat that.  Eat dark chocolate not milk chocolate or stay away from fried food.  Well, on January 1st, I did the total opposite and went against the rule book completely.

Here’s the thing, for me, the more I tell myself I can’t have something, the more I’ll want to eat it. So to remedy that, I just incorporated that something into my meal plan and still lose weight.  So that’s exactly what I did.  On a daily basis, I incorporate junk food into my diet.  I’m very conscious of what I’m eating, when I eat it and how much of it I’m eating.  So to answer your question, yes I’ve had a piece of chocolate bar everyday since January 1st and/or a handful of Tortilla chips and/or cookies! Within Reason! Don’t eat the whole row of cookies or the whole bag or tortillas! Moderation is key. I know, mind boggling but true.  On a daily my basis I consume the following:

  • A light Breakfast
  • A gallon of water, finished on or before 4:30pm
  • Snacks  (can be junk food) throughout the day
  • Dinner no later than 6pm

I’m not a nutritionist, I’m not a health professional I just know what’s been working for me.  What’s working for me is having the snacks while making sure I get my total nutrients in as well as having my literal cake and eating it too! Why,  because it prevents me from binging the things I crave later resulting in weight gain.  I don’t know about you, but once I start I won’t stop.  Doing this is actually better than a cheat day!  Cheat days turn into cheat weekends and then cheat weeks.  So I’ve eliminated cheating and just incorporated the preverbial “cheat” into my daily meals.  Don’t believe me? Check out my posts on ROWFit35 Wellness Page and I’ll show ya! I post eeeeeeverything I eat and drink and have lost 16lbs since January 1, 2019.
